Mountshannon has three Public Houses and a Wine Bar in its picturesque village
Cois na HAbhna: This public house is located on the main street of Mountshannon Village. It is managed by a local family and is friendly and inviting to all. It provides excellent coverage of all the sporting events, as well has music entertainment during the weekend nights. On occasion Cois na HAbhna (Spud's Place) offers promotional BBQ events for Sunday afternoons during the summer months.
Keane's Bar: Keane's Bar is located on the main street of Mountshannon. Keane's bar host’s regular Traditional Irish music nights. Ask about and watch for posters locally to see what events are on.
The Snug Wine Bar: Provides a relaxing environment during to relax and enjoy a glass of wine either in the main part of the restaurant or the outside seating area. The Snug is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday 6pm – 10pm
The Village Inn Hotel: Bar of the Mountshannon Hotel is a lively yet child friendly bar which keeps an old style pub theme. Traditional Music is a permanent fixture every Friday Night with many unplanned sessions on occasion. There is an outdoor decking area which is south facing and captures all the sun on glorious summer days in Mountshannon. It also provides excellent coverage of all the major sporting events.
There are some great places to go for a nice meal when you visit Mountshannon. There are several restaurants in the Main Street.
The Snug- Wine Bar and Pizzeria: the whitewashed building is instantly appealing, with a small garden to the front where a couple of tables are set out in fine weather, or candles in the windows gleaming out. Inside, there are deeply comfortable black leather chairs to sink into, books to read and another garden to the rear, also with tables. The menu is simple – starters consist of various types of toppings for crostini – pesto and toasted pine nuts, pate, tapenade etc – and main courses are a choice of pizza or salads.
An Cupàn Caifè: This welcoming café offers a great atmosphere to go for a cup of coffee or a casual lunch, as well as offering more gourmet meals in the evening times. Easily found on the main street, with a beautifully decorated building with hanging baskets and fairy lights on the door. Expect to find homemade soup, chicken Caesar salad, penne pasta and the like at lunchtime, while in the evenings there is a four-course dinner available, and also an à la carte menu.
The Mountshannon Hotel is located in the centre of the village of Mountshannon. Bar Food is available until 9:00pm every day and it is their aim to keep the hotel one of the best places for bar food on the Shannon. All their food is freshly prepared from local produce and can be easily traced to Irish farms.
The Hotel has 16 en-suite rooms including family, double, twin and single rooms available on request and is ideal for family or group getaways. All rooms have full facilities including multi-channel TV’s, hairdryer, tea/coffee making, direct dial telephone etc. There is a Private Lounge with TV/DVD and open fire for residents only and a resident’s bar.
The Harbour Room is a function room which can seat up to 300 patrons for conference/concerts and up to 200 patrons for weddings/eating functions and is also ideal for private and surprise parties. You are always guaranteed a warm welcome.
Bourke’s The Galley Restaurant: Attached to a deli, Bourke’s offers rich coffees, alluring baked goods and fresh light meals. It has a very welcoming atmosphere and offers a bright and airy backdrop inside with the high vaulted ceiling and large windows. There is also a beautiful decking area at the rear of the restaurant which has magnificent views to Lough Derg.
Bourke’s Shop and Restaurant: is located at the other end of Mountshannon Village. It provides newspapers, groceries, baked goods and a fresh deli.
Galvins Petrol Station: is located on the edge of the village and is trading as both a shop and petrol station. It provides newspapers, groceries, teas/coffees, baked goods, car wash facilities and most importantly it is the only petrol station in the village of Mountshannon.
Keane’s Bar and food store: Keane’s bar also provides a convenience store in Mountshannon which provides newspapers and groceries.
