Scarriff, Mountshannon & Whitegate Angling Club
Scarriff, Mountshannon and Whitegate Angling Club was founded in 1953
The Clubs main aim is to promote angling in our rivers, streams and in Lough Derg. With this aim in mind the Club decided to erect a trout hatchery, since trout stocks had diminished alarmingly. To date the Club have released 1,000,000 approx. unfed fry into the feeder streams on both the Clare and Tipperary side of the lake.
To facilitate these unfed fry the Club embarked on a river enhancement programme which is on-going.
In August each year, the Club treats all young anglers to a barbeque following a fishing competition on the lake. One of our aims is to encourage junior anglers to continue with this pastime.
