Below is a list of the new Community Council which were elected by the residents of Mountshannon in May 2010.  The Council meet every two weeks on a Tuesday night to discuss up and coming events for Mountshannon village.  The Council members are elected every four years using the PR system.

Secretary:         Jane Glennon

Members:        John Whelan, Pauline Madden, Martina Woods, John Tiernan, Michael Durack  & Mark Wilson

The Council sponsors the Fás Community Employment Scheme and the Rural Social Scheme which employee 23 people at present (CES 20 participants & 1 Supervisor, RSS 3 participants).  The CES participants and supervisor  maintain the  Mountshannon Village to the highest standard while the RSS employees continue the upkeep of Woopark Forest and Moynoe graveyard.  The Council have been instrumental over the past years in helping to obtain funding for the new Childcare building and also the new to be open Playground in the Aistear.
