The local Hurling Club has been in existence since 1887. Today in the parish it continues to promote and foster participation in Gaelic Games. The club caters for hurlers of all ages and teams from U-10, U-12, U-14, U-16, U- 18, U-21 and adults all take part in competition.

Over the years in the parish of Whitegate/Mountshannon, the club has been an integral part of the sporting and social life of practically every family in the area.

The club grounds and clubhouse are situated in the village of Whitegate and all the people in the parish are most welcome to visit and involve themselves in Club activities.

A weekly card game and lotto allow people to socialise and support the club.

Participation in sport has never been as important as in today's changing world and playing hurling - the greatest game - is an ideal way for all boys, young and not so young to be involved in local sport.

The local GAA Club welcome all to the parish and look forward to playing its part in making our community a more vibrant one.

Looking forward to your support.
